All of these, with the exception of Smålands nation, joined a network called “Studentlund”, which acts as a kind of umbrella organization. Studentlund is a cooperation that consists of the nations in Lund, the student unions and the Academic Society. Studentlund offers many opportunities to develop as a person and to gain valuable skills and experiences from outside of the lecture halls. The rest cant even compete. If you want a proper bar, you have 1 or 2 to choose from i Lund, outside of the nations but Malmö (the city) would be your nr1 choice. The first weeks of every semester is dedicated to the new arrivals. Become a member of a nation, any nation and go to different nations and try them out.

The spring is the best, but student life goes on through winter and snow. The tradition of nations at the university is practically as old as the university itself. The list is always sorted in accordance with a time-honoured order based on the age of the diocese of the area that the nation was named after. The reason for this was that almost all students earlier came from gymnasiums, and these were only found in diocesan capitals. The nations are large, welcoming social clubs forming the heart of students’ extracurricular life in Lund.
